| Open Mic Night Comedy Contest Finals |
| Welcome to all comics interested in participating in the Pittsburgh Improv's Open Mic Night. We will be doing something new periodically with our open mic night in coordination with Comcast On Demand. For the time being, The Improv and Comcast have teamed up to bring a local open mic night to Comcast's On Demand featured only at the Improv. For this reason we are asking that all open mic night material be PG rating or TV friendly on those nights that are filmed by Comcast. These dates will be announced prior to that night. An excellent comparison would be to the content of NBC's Last Comic Standing. For this reason we will be doing a 2 minute screening of all comics beginning at 6pm on the evening of the scheduled open mic night. If you are interested in performing a 5 minute set in our open mic night taping, you must be present at the 6pm screening or you will not be able to participate in the Open Mic Night. We will be holding this once a month for the time being so you may return the following month. A second requirement of our open mic night is that each comic participating must bring a total of 5 people to see them. If these people give the comics name they are supporting to the box office when they purchase tickets, they will receive a $5 discount on their tickets. Tickets for these people will only be $10 as opposed to $15. It is up to the comic participating in our open mic night to self promote for this night and communicate the special admission discount to their friends and family. Once to twice a year we will run an open mic night contest based from the regular open mic nights we are running right now. That date will be determined in the near future but will be held sometime in June and in December. The Improv's Open Mic Night screening is open to any and all comics. Comics picked to participate in the On Demand taping will be chosen from each screening. The only requirement for participation in our On Demand filming is that your comedy be TV friendly or rated PG. We appreciate your cooperation in this and look forward to seeing you all at the screening.
For open mic nights where we are not filming our policy will be to open our doors one hour prior to the time they open to the public. This would be 6:30pm. At this time we will have a registration on a first come first serve basis for the show that evening. I will pre determine the number of open mic night comics to be on the line-up and those who do not make it will have priority for the following month. Those comics receiving priority will still need to confirm their attendance by registering the following month or coming to the screening provided we have one.
If you plan on attending please contact Aimee at improvaimee@yahoo.com by Tuesday before the scheduled open mic date.
